Why UI/UX Matters

How good design helps your users and your business — even if you're not a designer.

You don't need to be a designer to build something that looks good and works well. You just need to know a few rules.

What is UI/UX?

  • UI (User Interface) — how your app looks. Colors, fonts, buttons, layout.
  • UX (User Experience) — how your app feels. Can people find what they need? Do forms make sense? Is anything confusing?

Good UI/UX isn't about making things pretty. It's about making things clear.

Why should you care?

Users leave ugly sites

Studies show users form an opinion about a website in 50 milliseconds. If your site looks unprofessional, they bounce before reading a word.

Confused users don't convert

If someone can't figure out how to sign up, buy, or use your app, they won't. Every confusing element is a lost user.

Good defaults are easy

The difference between a janky site and a clean one is usually just a few things: consistent spacing, readable fonts, proper contrast, and clear navigation. All of these are fixable with simple rules.

What we cover

This guide walks through the fundamentals:

  1. Typography — making text readable
  2. Color & Contrast — colors that work for everyone
  3. Layout & Spacing — organizing content clearly
  4. Navigation — helping people find things
  5. Forms & Inputs — forms people can actually complete

Each page includes good vs. bad examples so you can see exactly what we mean.
