Understanding Your Results
How to read your usability.cat scan report and paw ratings.
After a scan completes, you'll see a report with your paw rating and a breakdown of issues. Here's how to read it.
Paw ratings
Your overall score is shown as 1 to 5 paws:
| Paws | Score Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1 paw | 0-20 | Serious issues need attention |
| 2 paws | 21-40 | Several areas need improvement |
| 3 paws | 41-60 | Decent, but room to grow |
| 4 paws | 61-80 | Good — just some polish needed |
| 5 paws | 81-100 | Excellent — your site is in great shape |
Report sections

- Typography — font sizes, line heights, heading hierarchy
- Color & Contrast — accessibility of your color choices
- Layout — spacing, alignment, visual hierarchy
- Navigation — how easy it is to find things
- Forms — input design, labels, error handling
Security issues

- Vulnerabilities — potential XSS, CSRF, or injection risks

Issue severity
Each issue is tagged with a severity:
- Critical — fix this first, it's hurting your users or exposing security risks
- Warning — not urgent, but will improve the experience
- Info — nice-to-have improvements
Using fix prompts
Every issue includes a fix prompt — a ready-made instruction you can paste into Cursor, Bolt, or any AI coding tool. The prompt tells the AI exactly what to change and why.
